We’re excited to announce that Airtight Engineering has been invited to speak at this year’s Passive House Canada Conference! The conference will take place from June 17-19, 2024, and participants can attend either in-person (Victoria, BC) or online.

Matthew Dipple and Steffen Bertlesen will be hosting a presentation on Monday, June 17th from 11:15am-12:15pm PST, titled “Enabling Passive House Adoption in Cold Climates.” In the presentation we’ll share some of our experiences and wrestle with questions such as: why is it that there are so few passive house projects in the colder climates of Canada? What can we do to accelerate the impact of passive house design and building practices in these regions? Is the Passive House Standard too stringent for widespread adoption in colder climates?  We hope you’ll join us in-person or online!

Passive House Canada is a national non-profit professional association that advocates for and educates on the Passive House high-performance building standard, a way of building that sharply reduces greenhouse gas emissions and provides resilient structures that can withstand extreme weather related to climate change.

This year's conference theme is By Design!: Transform the Built Environment, and the conference will highlight the critical role of design in the evolution of high-performance, sustainable building practices. Focusing on innovation, market acceleration, and ecological regeneration, the conference will feature a comprehensive program including case studies, policy discussions, and workshops.

We’re excited to attend the conference and explore the integration of Passive House standards with ecological and health-centred design principles, and see examples of new benchmarks for the future of the built environment.
